Tokyo 2
Today was cherry blossom day. The day dawned fine and warm about 22° which was nice considering the forecast had until very recently predicted rain. The blossom status is measured and reported and today they were rated at 100% so we were looking forward to a really good show with the trees in peak condition.
We set out and went past the Diet building (the Japanese house of Parliament), to the Imperial Palace, and the Bank of Japan. The latter is set on a blossom street so was a taster for the main event at Ueno Park which has about 1000 cherry blossom trees.
Lunch was a Japanese buffet on the 12th floor of Tokyo station. We could see the bullet trains and the local trains come and go. Before anyone asks there are 28 platforms and the station has about 700,000 passengers per day.
A few pics. As you can see we almost had Ueno Park to ourselves.
